A famous writer leaves his home in Thessaloniki to travel by car to the hospital where perhaps more will come. The encounter with an Albanian boy, washer illegal, he takes away for a few days of solitude, and the memory of his wife the dead back to a past too, mostly to himself and to work, too little to his neighbor. Written with Tonino Guerra and Petros Markaris, with the photograph of the usual Yorgos Arvanitis and Andreas Sinanos, the 11th film of Angelopoulos - Palme d'Or at the 51st Cannes Film Festival 1998 is an exercise in poetic skill, which expires in poeticism accumulation of metaphors, themes and suggestions. This does not prevent the viewer capable of attention, listening and surrender to admire the high rates of unusual splendor figurative and some memorable sequences.
